Arkansas is properly named the Natural State. There are a lot of great things to see and do outside! However, there are also many great things to do inside. Below, we list some fun things we like in the area.

Wine and Cheese at our New Home

We will host a wine and cheese reception at our new home on Saturday September 1, 2018 from 3:00-5:00pm. All are welcome.

5439 West Yellow Brick Road
Fayetteville, AR 72703

Please carpool to alleviate any parking congestion. Note, the Razorback football game starts at 3pm in Fayetteville, so there might be a little bit of traffic. The following route from Embassy Suites using the back roads might be best if you are trying to avoid traffic.

Hiking

Tanyard Creek Nature Trail

To quote from Alltrails: 'Tanyard Loop is a 2.2 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Bella Vista Village, Arkansas that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail.'

You can choose to stay on the path or venture off path down near (or into) the creek. There is a nice waterfall at the end of the hike (when you go left). If you go right after the bridge there are cool rock formations.

Fun Fact: Wes first met Sarah's parents at Tanyard Creek.

Devil's Den State Park

Located approximately 40 minutes south of Rogers, AR is Devil's Den State Park. Devil's Den is in the Boston Mountains, the southwestern part of the Ozark plateau, where they are the highest portion of the Ozark Mountains. At the park are a variety of trails. For the moderate hiker, we recommend the Yellow Rock Trail which has a beautiful overlook.

Hobbs State Park

"Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area covers a 12,056-acre tract of diverse Ozark landscape along the southern shore of 28,370-acre Beaver Lake. Twenty-two of the park's 60 miles of border stretch along the shores of Beaver Lake." The park nicely has trails and ranger led events.

Water Fun

Beaver Lake

While there are many lakes and rivers in the area, we recommend checking out Beaver Lake. It has limestone bluffs, natural caves, fishing, boating, skiing, and swimming. The nearest marina to rent boats is the Prairie Creek Marina.

Arts and Museums

Crystal Bridges

Crystal Bridges is a free Museum of American Art that unites the power of art with the beauty of nature.

Frank Lloyd Wright House

At Crystal Bridges is the Bachman-Wilson House, a house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The self-guided tour is free, however, because they limit the number of people in the house at once, you must reserve your free ticket for a specific time.

Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel

The Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel is designed by architects, E. Fay Jones (an apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright) and Maurice Jennings. The chapel is positioned on a wooded hilltop and was built in honor of Mildred B. Cooper who has an interesting history including active involvement with Girl Scouts. Note, the chapel is sometimes used for special events, please check viewing hours before visiting.

The Walmart Museum

Located in Bentonville square, the Walmart Museum is located in Sam Walton's original 5 & 10 store and gives the history of Walmart.

Restaurants

Mirabella's Table

A delicious quality Italian restaurant very close to Embassy Suites that features quality Italian food and wine. We recommend the Arancini for an appetizer to share and the Mirabella's pasta.

Restaurants on Bentonville Square

The Bentonville, AR square is a charming town square featuring restaurants and shops. We have never had a bad experience at any of the restaurants on the square and always have a good time. A couple of our favorites are Tavola for Italian food, Table Mesa for latin cuisine, Onyx for coffee, and The Hive Bar or Scotch and Soda (see below) for fun drinks.

Taquería Don Güero

Northwest Arkansas has numerous authentic mexican restaurants which have better food than the big chains. There are too many taquerias to list them all here, however if you go to any with good reviews on Yelp in Rogers or Springdale you for sure are in for a treat. We enjoy eating the tacos and tamales at Taquería Don Güero while enjoying cider from the local cidery Black Apple Crossing across the street.

Stone Mill Cafe

This is Sarah's favorite local soup, salad, and sandwich place in the area. She recommends the chicken salad sandwich on cranberry pecan bread. Wes recommends the chicken and dumplings.

Grubs Bar & Grille

A hometown favorite featuring burgers, salads, sandwiches, and beer. Wes recommends the pizza dip and the kickin' chicken sandwich.

Beer, Wine, and Spirits

Growler USA

A new craft beer bar close to Embassy Suites featuring 104 beers on tap, draft wines, hard cider, non-alcoholic hand-crafted root beer, and good food. This place has the largest selection of craft beer on tap in Arkansas.

Scotch and Soda

Scotch and Soda, located in Bentonville square, is a fun, casual bar featuring a variety of scotch and spirits. For scotch wimps like Sarah, she recommends the Fresca.

Core Brewery

A local brewery close to Embassy Suites with a cool atmosphere. This location has a nice outdoor second-floor balcony.
